Girls And Women, Be Alert

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley is advising women and girls to always be on the alert, and look out for their personal safety. His advice comes at a time when there is national outrage over the murder of 18 year old Ashanti Riley, and the discovery of the body of Krystal Primus-Espinoza who was reported missing. At Saturday's Media Conference, the Prime Minister said as a father of two daughters and uncle of several nieces, he physically feels the pain whenever he hears of victims of violence against women. The Prime Minister recalled that at one time in Trinidad and Tobago anyone operating a car for hire had to have a good character and be authorised by the State to be a taxi driver. Regarding permission for women to carry pepper spray or tasers as a form of protection, the Prime Minister said the advice they have received is that these devices doesn't guarantee a person's safety.
