The Member of Parliament for St. Joseph, Terrence Deyalsingh, was the first of 41 MPs to collect Christmas Food Cards, to be given out to the most vulnerable.
Each MP will receive 200 Food Cards valued at $550 each to distribute to persons most at need in their constituency.
The cards are in the form of a debit card, where recipients will be able to redeem it at various supermarkets.
Minister of Social Development and Family Services, Donna Cox, explained that this falls within the mandate of her Ministry, and revealed how it will be allocated.
The distribution took place on Friday at the Ministry of Social Development Ministry's Headquarters on St Vincent Street.
