Investigations Continue Into Rape At Safe House

National Security Minister, Stuart Young, is hoping charges will be brought against the security guard at the centre of an investigation into the rape of a minor at a safe house in North Trinidad. The girl was allegedly raped while at the safe house by the same guard who was assigned to the facility. Speaking in the Senate, Minister Young confirmed the report of the girl being abused by the security guard, and said it is engaging Government's full attention. He assured that the guard has since been removed, and added that the Children's Authority is investigating the issue. Minister Young said there are no recent reports of children being raped or abused at safe houses, except this isolated incident.
