New Curfew For 2021 In Barbados

Over in Barbados, people are being warned to usher in the New Year from their homes, as Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley has announced a curfew to take effect from Thursday night until January 14th. The latest move comes as authorities probe an outbreak of coronavirus infections among citizens with no travel history. Ms Mottley says two prison officers are among ten new cases announced on Thursday. Ms Mottley has also implemented restrictions on Old Year's Night, to discourage any major congregation. But she says church services have been allowed to end at 11pm on Thursday, while restaurants have been ordered to close at that same time. The Barbados Prime Minister says due to this, Government will provide compensation to 65 affected promoters and event planners. Its Ministry of Health is now tracing the contacts of five people: two men from Christ Church, two from St James, and a St Thomas woman.
