Sixty people will be laid off soon at the Methanex Corporation's Titan facility at Point Lisas Industrial Estate. The news came via an article with Methanex President and Chief Executive Officer, John Floren, in Canada's Globe NewsWire. The article indicated that the company's Titan methanol facility, which operates at 875,000 tonnes annual capacity, will remain idle indefinitely. The company operates two methanol facilities on the Point Lisas Industrial Estate, Titan and Atlas. As a result of their decision, the Company will reduce its local workforce. Titan, the article explained, is one of the plants that has not reached a long term natural gas agreement with the National Gas Company. The article noted that the Atlas facility has a separate natural gas supply agreement that expires in 2024.
