The Ministry of Trade and Industry says it is encouraged by emerging signs of resurgence in the manufacturing sector, as noted by the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago. In late December, the Central Bank issued its Monetary Policy Announcement and noted that while the economy remained subdued during the Third Quarter of 2020, there were signs of resurgence in construction, as well as the manufacturing sector. The Ministry said this is indicative of Government's support to the sector, which is the third largest contributor to the country's Gross Domestic Product. It noted that in fiscal 2021, TT$50 million is allocated for an overseas market development and export promotion facility to assist manufacturers to boost exports in traditional and new export markets.
