Police Commissioner Meets 'Persons of Interest' Regarding Gang Threats

Police Commissioner Gary Griffith says the TTPS will take down any attempts to escalate gang-related criminal activity that brings inconvenience to the public. The Police Commissioner met on Friday night with several well-known "persons of interest" after reports of heightened gang activity in Port of Spain. The TTPS in a media release said several persons of interest were brought into the Besson Street and St. Joseph Police Stations. Commissioner Griffith visited both police stations, where he issued a stern warning that the "TTPS will not tolerate any plans among groups to cause any mayhem and destruction." On Friday evening several WhatsApp messages began circulating, alleging that Gangsters in and around Port of Spain and environs were preparing to engage in all-out war with each other, as a mutual 'truce' had broken down.
