Moriah Gets A New Health Centre

On August 27th, 2018, the sod was turned, signalling the commencement of the construction of a new Moriah Health Centre. Almost two and a half years later, the project has been completed and residents of the Northern and Eastern end of Tobago have another health facility of their own. At a brief ceremony on Friday, Chairman of the Tobago Regional Health Authority Board, Ingrid Melville, assured that with a quality facility, there would be quality service from health care providers. Chief Secretary Ancil Dennis, adding to Ms. Melville's comment, noted that while quality service is of paramount importance, outstanding payments for staff should be addressed. Meanwhile, Secretary for Health, Wellness and Family Development, Tracy Davidson-Celestine, stressed that compared to many, Tobagonians are a fortunate people, having available to them over 17 Health Centres. She outlined further advancements planned for the island's health sector. This new Moriah Health Facility will provide adolescent health, dental care and nutrition services, walk-in clinics and would also house a district pharmacy, and an exercise room, specifically for the elderly in the community. It would also be outfitted with new technologies.
