EBC: 6-6 Deadlock In Tobago Stands

The recounts of four districts in Tobago have been completed and the outcome remains the same - a 6-6 deadlock. This, according to an official at the Elections and Boundaries Commission. The Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP) had requested recounts in the Electoral Districts of Canaan/Bon Accord, Lambeau/ Signal Hill and Scarborough/Calder Hall where PNM candidates were successful. The People's National Movement had requested a recount in the Electoral District of Bethel/Mt. Irvine which went to the PDP. In Monday's THA Elections, 26,385 votes were cast, giving rise to a voter turn-out of 51.84%. The People's National Movement got 13,288 votes and the Patriotic Democratic Patriots received 12,798 votes. The jury is still out on the way forward for the THA following the unprecedented deadlock.
