THA Deadlock Continues - No Presiding Officer Elected

A third meeting and the status remains the same for the Tobago House of Assembly - No Presiding Officer elected. On Thursday, the 12 Assemblymen reconvened for the voting session at the Assembly Chamber. PNM Assemblyman Ancil Dennis nominated their choice, Ingrid Melville, while PDP Assemblyman Farley Augustine once again nominated Julien Skeete. After four rounds of voting, two through secret ballot and two audibly, the vote remained deadlocked and the Clerk of the Assembly suspended the meeting. The People's National Movement's Tracy Davidson-Celestine said they were not surprised with Thursday's outcome. Meanwhile, the Progressive Democratic Patriots will be heading to court. The party's Deputy Political Leader, Farley Augustine, said this session has highlighted further legal errors on the part of the Clerk of the House.
