As Trinidad and Tobago is expecting the imminent arrival of COVID-19 vaccinations in the next few weeks, questions are being raised about how safe and effective the vaccines are, given the speed of the clinical trials. University of the West Indies Lecturer in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Dr. Clara-Maria Alexander, addressed the speed of the trials in a presentation on Vaccine Development and Approval with special emphasis on COVID-19. Dr. Alexander noted that some individuals did have adverse reactions to the vaccines during the clinical trials. The UWI lecturer added that all the individuals who experienced these allergic reactions recovered.
