MOH To Monitor COVID Numbers After Candlelight Vigils

The Ministry of Health is hoping there is no increase in COVID-19 cases in the next few weeks, following numerous candlelight vigils across the country in the past week. Technical Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Avery Hinds, says the rolling weekly average of COVID-19 cases has been decreasing, and stands at around six or seven for the past couple of weeks. In the Health Ministry's COVID-19 update on Thursday, just one case was recorded, while there were only five additional cases on Friday. Dr. Hinds says he is hoping that these numbers remain steady, or even continue to decrease in the next few weeks. The Ministry of Health reported today one additional death from the deadly virus putting the local death toll now to 138. The deceased was an elderly male with co-morbidities. There are five new Positive cases reported today. The Technical Director of Epidemiology is also urging people not to become complacent, as the weekly rolling average of cases continue to decline. If these vigils or gatherings continue, Dr. Hinds is urging people to adhere more strictly to the Public Health Regulations.
