Buccoo Reef To Resume Voyage To T&T By Month's End

The delivery of the Buccoo Reef fast ferry will resume after technical issues are properly addressed. Chairman of the National Infrastructure Development Company Limited (NIDCO), Herbert George, said the vessel should make its way to Trinidad and Tobago by the end of this month. NIDCO appeared once again before Parliament's Joint Select Committee on State Enterprises to discuss matters which fall under its remit. The Company last met with the JSC in January. The Buccoo Reef vessel left Australia on January 21st, but had to turn back a few days later after issues were detected. Mr. George explained that one of the main engines of the vessel was overheating. Mr. George said the manufacturer of the parts was immediately contacted to replace it. He said all four pumps on the vessel will be replaced.
