Police Commissioner On Police Stations

The police station in Santa Rosa, Pinto Road and the Heights of Aripo is not to be closed. This from Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith who met with residents in the area to assure them that their safety is of the utmost importance to him. The Commissioner went to explain that he wants to repurpose police stations, to include areas for sensitive crimes involving rape and abuse victims. He says the perception of a police station full of officers protecting citizens from crime is not right. He says that it is time to get officers on the beat for more effective policing. The Commissioner explained that with an efficient 999 system, police can come to a crime scene faster. Having the officers on the street he emphasised, allows them to move more efficiently in getting to those, who need them.
