PDP Initiates Legal Action

The Progressive Democratic Patriots has gone forward with their plans to pursue legal action, against the Office of the Clerk of the Assembly, in their efforts to address what they termed 'illegalities', in the process of electing a Presiding Officer. On Friday, the PDP's Assemblymen addressed the media at James Park, wearing t-shirts with the prints "Stand & Resist", a course they have been asking Tobagonians to take. The party's Political Leader Watson Duke displayed an envelope, which contained a pre-action protocol letter addressed to the Clerk of the Assembly. The letter was hand-delivered, while soft copies were forwarded to the People's National Movement's Assemblymen. Mr. Duke stressed that the action taken is not related to the THA Act amendment plans, but is focused on the process of electing a Presiding Officer. However, he believes the Prime Minister's efforts to bring the proposed changes to the THA Act, to the Parliament on Friday, would be futile. He said the PDP plans to address this at a later date.
