Police Commissioner To Attend Town Meeting On Crime In Chaguanas

Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith will attend a Town Meeting to hear the concerns of residents in the Chaguanas West constituency. On Monday, he met with Chaguanas West MP Dinesh Rambally and business sector representatives. MP Rambally told the Commissioner about his constituents' fear of being the next victim of crime, given recent incidents which occurred in the Central Division. Commissioner Griffith said while there was a massive reduction of crime in Chaguanas West, he understands that the fear of crime remains a major concern. He said most of the persons committing crimes in the area are repeat offenders and they are able to carry out their activities because of their ability to get bail when they are arrested and charged. Commissioner Griffith maintained that criminals need to remain in jail.
