PM Rowley Thanks Barbados And Dominica For Vaccine Gifts

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, in his role as Chairman of CARICOM, has thanked the Governments of Barbados and Dominica for sharing their vaccine gifts received from the Government of India. Dr. Rowley delivered the opening statement at the 32nd Intersessional Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government today, Wednesday. The roll-out of COVID-19 Vaccines is among major matters for deliberation during the two-day Intersessional Meeting. Prime Minister Rowley said the continued support provided to the Community by institutions, such as the Caribbean Public Health Agency, and regional solidarity through the sharing of Personal Protective Equipment, Test Kits and most recently, vaccines, have had significant impacts on the region's ability to combat the ravages of this nefarious disease. The CARICOM Chairman also spoke of the need for the region to adopt a multi-sectoral response to treat with crime and violence. He said while attention has been focussed on securing the health and socio-economic well-being of the Community's post COVID recovery, the region must remain committed to addressing crime and violence as a public health issue.
