No Reply For UNC From India

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has not received any response from India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after writing him two weeks ago. In late February, she wrote a letter to Mr Modi asking for a gift of COVID-19 vaccines for Trinidad and Tobago. Mrs Persad-Bissessar was since criticized by Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Amery Browne for doing so, and stated that she sacrificed protocols, good judgment and tempering with sound bilateral relations in a quest for relevance and attention. Asked whether the Opposition Leader had received any reply, Oropouche West MP Dave Tancoo stated that no such correspondence has been forthcoming. The letter from Mrs Persad-Bissessar came after several Caribbean countries were gifted donations of COVID-19 vaccines from India.
