Manufacturers Dealing With Plastic Pollution

Manufacturers are concerned with plastic pollution and are responding to the call that this issue should be dealt with. The statement was made from Team Lead at the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association Christian George, during a webinar on 'Tackling Plastic Pollution' on Monday. Mr. George highlighted several initiatives, including an initiative from a manufacturer to switch its use to paper straws instead of plastic straws. Although Mr. George did not name the manufacturer, Nestle in Trinidad and Tobago was the company that launched this initiative in late 2020. He added that the TTMA is also doing its part to contribute to changing how the environment is affected by plastic waste. Globally, 8.3 billion metric tonnes of plastics has been produced since its inception, with 6.3 billion metric tonnes of that becoming plastic waste.
