She said once a virus continues to get the opportunity to spread, the more it replicates and changes.
She said genome sequencing studies have shown that over the past year, many different variants of SARS CO-V-2 have emerged.
Dr. Carrington said there are currently three major variants of concern.
So far, the Ministry has detected the Brazilian variant in one sample.
