Sophisticated Gangs In T&T

The dynamics of gangs have changed. Many gang members are educated and are in possession of Master's degrees. This, from Minister of National Security, Stuart Young, as he contributed to debate in the Upper House today. He said through intelligence they have found that there are people with Master’s degrees in Business Administration and International Relations involved in gangs. Meanwhile, Opposition Senator Jearlean John believes more employment opportunities must be made available to the young people who have joined gangs. She also added that even when gang members are incarcerated, they continue to run the gangs behind bars. This was also mentioned in a Joint Select Committee meeting on Monday by the Acting Prisons Commissioner, Dennis Pulchan.
