Chief Medical Officer Dr. Roshan Parasram is confident there will be a high uptake of vaccines when it becomes available in this country.
He says the Ministry of Health guarantees that only vaccines approved by the WHO will be used locally, and hopes this gives the population some level of confidence in the vaccination process.
Dr. Parasram, who was speaking during Monday's Ministry of Health Virtual Press Conference, says citizens should be assured of any vaccine approved by the international body, since it undergoes immense scrutiny.
The AstraZeneca vaccine, which is expected to be delivered to this country via the COVAX facility, has been proven to be both safe and highly effective from studies conducted in the US.
