The National Phagwa Council celebrated Phagwa or Holi on Sunday.
The festival was not held last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the disease has again affected celebrations this year.
The National Phagwa Council of Trinidad and Tobago, mindful of COVID-19 regulations, staged a scaled-down celebration in Barataria.
President of the Council, Pundit Satyanand Gosine, said it was important to keep the centuries-old tradition alive.
Indian indentured labourers brought the spring festival of Phagwa to Trinidad and Tobago in the 19th century.
The festival has been celebrated for over two millennia, and Pundit Gosine said it has come to symbolize good over evil.
