Two Mayaro men are expected to appear before a Mayaro Magistrate, charged with the murder of their relative, Naresh Sookram, which occurred on Sunday 4th April, 2021. Dhanraj Seukumar and Dinesh Roopnarine, both of Isthmus Road, Point Galeota, Mayaro, were charged following advice received from Acting Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul. Reports are that 18 year old Sookram, a crab vendor, also from the Mayaro area, was close to his home on Sunday 4th April, 2021, when he got into an altercation with two male relatives, one of whom was armed with a cutlass. During the incident, Sookram was injured on the neck and shoulder. He died at the scene. The two suspects were arrested shortly after by officers of the Mayaro Police Station.
