Cycling Is On Tonight

This is it for several locally-based cyclists hoping to represent the National Team at upcoming International Meets for both junior and senior riders. It's the much anticipated first assessment event at the Cycling Velodrome in Couva, where riders will put their wheels on the line hoping to do fast times and impress the National Selectors. The meeting is designed to allow the riders to show where they are in terms of their fitness and readiness for the demands of international competition. They will be back for the second assessment meeting a week from today, hoping to make certain of their fitness and capabilities in their pet events. Riders will push off in the always exciting, yet demanding 500-metre swing around the track which is a sprint from whistle to horn, with little or no margin for error. The demanding Kilometre Time Trial is also part of the menu on a packed schedule which pedals off from 7PM today.
