MP Scotland: Police Can Enter Premises In Necessary Circumstances

The debate on whether the police can enter private property without a warrant to enforce COVID-19 laws is heating up and Attorney at Law Keith Scotland gave his opinion this morning. He gave an example to contextualise his answer, saying that it is similar to if a policeman sees a woman being assaulted by a male while on private property. An immediate response would be required, foregoing the acquisition of a warrant. Mr. Scotland explained that Sections 1.10 and 1.33 of the Public Health Ordinance along with police powers are the key factors working, to allow the lawful entry on personal property, in this instance.
