100,000 Sinopharm Vaccines In T&T By Next Week

The gift of 100,000 Sinopharm vaccines from China will be on its way to Trinidad and Tobago by next week. The confirmation comes from Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh who says following approval from the WHO for emergency use authorization, plans are already underway with the Chinese Embassy to finalize details. Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram believes this vaccine has a good safety and efficacy rating and confirms that the two doses of the Sinopharm vaccines could be conducted in a quicker time than the Astra Zeneca vaccine. In addition to the donation from China, Mr Deyalsingh says Government is already in talks to purchase a great deal of Sinopharm vaccines to inoculate the population. He also confirmed that the 33,000 Astra Zeneca vaccines from the Covax facility are expected to arrive in this country on Monday.
