Water Metering Not A Priority At This Time, WASA Must Provide Water For All First

The provision of an adequate and efficient water supply for all is the main priority of the Water and Sewerage Authority. This, from Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales, who has noted that meters are not a priority for the Authority at this time. According to the Minister, water metering will play an important role in the management of water at the domestic level at the appropriate time. However, at this time, the Government's primary focus is the transformation and restructuring of the Water and Sewerage Authority into a high performing utility company that can meet the needs of all of its customers, as well as pursuing a National Strategic Water Stabilisation and Improvement Programme. That Programme is targeted towards improving the reliability of the water supply for all communities in Trinidad and Tobago.
