Members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service are assisting TTPost to maintain order as it delivers thousands of pension and welfare cheques today.
Scores of pensioners turned up at TTPost's outlets in San Fernando and Port of Spain on Tuesday, forcing the company to call on the police to assist with the crowds and ensure they maintain the social distancing protocols.
A Notice had been published by the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services which indicated that the pension and social welfare cheques would be delayed.
TTPost noted that cheque recipients would have their usual home delivery of their cheques and they did not need to visit any of the company's 66 outlets.
However, to avoid a repeat of Wednesday's chaos, police officers will be on hand at TTPost's outlets in Port of Spain and San Fernando today, Wednesday.
