Call For More Elderly Residents In Long Stay Homes To Get Vaccinated

The THA Division of Health's Vaccination Programme has been rolled out at Elderly Care Homes in Tobago. Acting General Manager Primary Care, Dr. Roxanne Mitchell, at Thursday's Health Briefing, said the drive began last week. Sixteen caregivers received their first dose, while ten are now fully vaccinated having received their second dose during this exercise. However, Dr. Mitchell noted that although three facilities have responded well, some Homes were not interested in their residents and caregivers receiving the vaccines. Dr. Mitchell is urging family members responsible for elderly residents at these homes to be mindful of the risks associated with COVID-19 and the benefit of having the elderly vaccinated.
