Key Points from Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley’s Media Conference on COVID-19 – Saturday June 26th, 2021 Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley announced that Saturday July 17th is the target for the opening of the borders. Persons allowed in when the borders open will include: - Vaccinated TT citizens. - Unvaccinated TT citizens. Fully vaccinated TT Nationals/Legal Residents with a Negative PCR test 72 hours prior to entering this country will be allowed to enter the country and go straight to their private residence. Children who are unvaccinated but whose fully-vaccinated parents are entering T&T will be allowed to go home with them. Unvaccinated TT Nationals entering the country must present a Negative PCR test 72 hours before travelling, and must go into State-supervised Quarantine for 14 days. The Prime Minister warned that persons who attempt to beat the system and avoid State-supervised quarantine will face “the full brunt of the law.” Non-Nationals who are unvaccinated will be barred from entering T&T at this time. Prime Minister Rowley also announced that private sector construction will not open on Monday. However, Government construction will open on Monday July 5th, 2021. So far, 15,000 construction workers have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley announced that a major First Dose COVID-19 Vaccination Programme will commence next month. This, as he confirmed that another shipment of Sinopharm vaccines should be here in the first week of July, and another shipment of vaccines via COVAX is also expected in mid-July. The Prime Minister also confirmed that 4,000 COVID-19 vaccines will be coming from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. These vaccines will be used as second doses since they will expire in a short time. Dr. Rowley stated that the Government has had "very positive contact, discussion and work with the United States" regarding a donation of COVID-19 vaccines for this region. He said "significant progress" has been made and it may just be a matter of days before confirmation comes from the US. The curfew next weekend will start at 9PM and end at 5AM.
