Sonja Johnson was re-elected President of the Trinidad and Tobago Chess Association unopposed last Saturday. In presenting her report on the 2020-2021 activities, TTCA President, Sonja Johnson, highlighted several achievements including two of the nominees for Chess, Zara La Fleur and Alan-Safar Ramoutar, placing in the Top 7 Youth and the TTCA being shortlisted in the top 3 for the Jeffrey Stollmeyer award for sporting organisations during the First citizens Sports Awards for 2020. Johnson also remarked that despite the challenges brought on by the COVID, Chess has been one of the few sports to successfully stage events for 2020 and 2021, and that's despite some in the fraternity challenging their legitimacy as an executive.
