Government To Act On Price Gouging When The Fuel Market Is Liberalised

Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, says Government will act against price gouging in the domestic liquid petroleum products sector when the fuel market becomes liberalised. Minister Imbert led off debate on the Finance Bill in the Senate on Tuesday. He assured that Government is creating a transparent mechanism where the ex-Refinery price, the terminal price ,and the wholesale price of fuel would be known and published. The Finance Minister warned that if the Government determines that dealers are engaging in price gouging, then appropriate modifications would be made to the legislation.
