Protecting The Elderly

There were 174 reports of different forms of elder abuse from January to May 2021, according to data from the Division of Ageing's Older Persons Information Centre. Minister of Social Development and Family Services, Donna Cox, disclosed the figure during Day One of the Division's Four-Day Webinar Series. The webinars will provide participants with information on the prevalence, signs, risk factors and intervention services for addressing elder abuse and neglect in Trinidad and Tobago and other jurisdictions. The series will continue on July 22nd, 23rd and 30th, 2021. Each Webinar is scheduled to take place from 10:00 am-12:00 noon and can be viewed on the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services' Facebook Page.
