The Oilfields Workers' Trade Union ( OWTU) is calling for a Commission of Enquiry into the closure of Petrotrin. President General of the OWTU, Ancel Roget, said since the closure of Petrotrin there've been a myriad of consequences, all to the detriment of ex-employees. He said a thorough Commission of Enquiry will bring to light issues which are not in the public domain. Mr. Roget said the OWTU has sent a pre-action protocol letter to the Chairman of Petrotrin, Michael Quamina, and the Attorneys for the trustee of the pension plan requesting information pertinent to Retirees' pensions. Mr. Roget said since the closure of Petrotrin in 2018, over 6,000 retirees have not heard any word about the sustainability of their pensions.
