No Delta Or South African Variant In T&T

Brazil's P1 variant seems to be the most dominant COVID-19 variant in the country at this time. This from Chief Medical Officer Dr. Roshan Parasram who said the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) continues to test for variants of concern within the population. While T&T has crossed the 1000 death toll, Dr. Parasram said the country does not have one of the highest COVID death rates in the world. He said it depends on who is infected, for example, people with comorbidities are more susceptible to the virus. According to the CMO, T&T recorded a 1.7% death rate in phase two of the pandemic, continuing into phase 3. But in the recent past, a death rate of 2.75% was recorded which is similar to the UK and other countries around the world.
