Activist Wendell Eversley Makes Annual Trek To POS On 31st Anniversary Of The 1990 Attempted Coup

Activist and coup survivor Wendell Eversley made his annual trek from the Dial in Arima to the Red House on Tuesday morning. Mr. Eversley said he does this so the Government can fully recognise the day of the attempted coup which took place on July 27th, 1990. He said the matter was heard before the Caribbean Court of Appeal and 12 recommendations were made to Parliament. He believed Chapter 11, which details the events of the coup, should be adopted. Many people, including former MP Leo Des Vignes, were murdered that day by a group of insurrectionists who stormed the Red House and the Trinidad and Tobago Television Network (TTT). When he arrives at the Red House, Mr. Eversley will meet with the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate to lay a wreath at the eternal flame.
