An oil spill in Palo Seco and parts of Erin has impacted vegetation and several homes in the area. According to a release from Heritage Petroleum Company Limited, reports of oil being visible in the flood waters at Carapal Village, Palo Seco, and Happy Valley, Erin were received on Sunday afternoon. A spill response team was dispatched and upon investigations realised the source of the oil spill was an over-flowing oil pit operated by lease operator Jasmin Oil and Gas Limited. Jasmin Oil and Gas Limited will visit the affected areas as soon as they become accessible, with a view to assess the impact of the oil spill and execute clean-up operations. The release said Jasmin Oil and Gas Limited will continue to monitor the impacted areas throughout the day.
