The Tobago Hotel and Tourism Institute will soon become the University of Tobago. At a recent Tobago Matters Episode, Chief Executive Officer of THTI, Dr. Stephen Sheppard, explained that plans are underway for this transformation. Dr. Sheppard said the academic areas at the University of Tobago have been developed based on Tobago's needs. Courses in arts and culture would be provided and a strong focus would be placed on preserving Tobago's heritage. Earth and Environmental Science and the Allied Health Sciences will also be taught at this institution. THTI's CEO informed that by September an E-Learning platform will be set up where persons can access courses through collaborations with international tertiary level institutions.
