Michelle Lee Ahye Bags Another Gold

T&T's Michelle Lee-Ahye continued her successful post-Olympic season with 100 Metre Gold at the WERCHA Stadium in Rovereto, Italy yesterday. Running out of lane 7, Ahye's time of 11.20 was one one-hundreth of a second faster than world junior record holder Candace Hill, whose compatriot Kayla White was third in 11.24 seconds. It was Ahye's second Gold in as many weeks. She anchored an international team to 4x100 metres Gold in Budapest. Trinidad and Tobago's Dion Lendore also mounted the rostrum after a creditable Bronze Medal finish in the Men's 400 metres. Lendore stopped the clock at 45.12 behind Botswana's Isaac Makwala, who copped Silver in 45.02 seconds. Tokyo 2020 Gold Medallist, Michael Cherry of the USA won gold in a meet record 44.55 seconds.
