BOATT Welcomes Safe Zone Recommendations

The Barkeepers & Operators Association of Trinidad and Tobago (BOATT) said it is satisfied that some of its recommendations were taken into consideration for the implementation of Safe Zone statuses. Via a statement on Tuesday, BOATT said it remains concerned that the core business of a bar is still prohibited. BOATT said it will actively lobby the Government for the resumption of normal business activity with good communication and open dialogue. The Barkeepers and Operators Association said there must not be a repeat of March 2021where both the Commissioner of Police and Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley made public statements of restaurants serving alcohol in take-away containers and teacups which was a breach of the Public Health Ordinance. BOATT said the economy needs to return to normal and the implementation of 'Safe Zones' is the much-needed 'shot' to stimulate it.
