Machel Jah Marley Baptiste shares more than just a name with the King of Soca Machel Montano. Their bond started 21 years ago from the almost tragic circumstances, when his mom Beverly Baptiste, who was 8 months pregnant at the time, was injured while at Montano's Real Unity Concert in 2000. Montano vowed to make it right. Through the Machel Montano Foundation and Xtatik Limited, a Unit Trust account was set up 21 years ago to support Jah Marley's tertiary education. The 21-year-old also received a start-up investment valued at two thousand, one hundred dollars. In a video message, the Soca King encouraged his younger namesake to invest in education.
