Cricket Round-Up: WI U-19 Victorious Over Zimbabwe, Women's Team Win Second ODI Against South Africa

The ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup plate came to a eventful end today with the West Indies earning victory of Zimbabwe. Batting first, the visitors piled on 256 for 4 of their 50 overs with 77 not out from David Bennet. In response, the West Indies lost Mathew Nandu with the score on just one but made way for Teddy Bishop and Kevin Wickham to build a century partnership. Wickham was the first to go for a stroke-filled 104. Teddy Bishop did the needful, leading the regional side to victory on 262 for 2. He finished not out on 112. This victory means automatic qualification for the Windies to the 2024 Under-19 World Cup. In other news, the West Indies Women won the second ODI of their four match series against South Africa in the eliminator in Johannesburg today. The Windies chose to field and and ran through the top order in a match reduced to 43 overs due to rain. All five Windies bowlers took two scalps each as the hosts were all out for 160. Deandra Dottin hit 35 and Chedean Nation 37 but the regional side was all out on an identical score in 37.4 overs. Dottin and Hayley Matthews made 25 in the one-over tie-breaker Matthews returned to restrict Tazmin Brits and Chloe Tryon to 17 an seal the victory.
