TTADA Responds To Announcement On Electric Powered Vehicles

Changes in the conditions required for importing electronic cars would need to be made if the Prime Minister’s target of changing to electric powered vehicles is to be achieved. This, from President of the Trinidad and Tobago Automotive Dealers Association, (TTADA,) Visham Babwah, who says that this type of vehicle is extremely expensive. Mr. Babwah is concerned about the expense of transitioning and says a plan has to be formulated for it to come off well. The TTADA President says an exemption on six year old hybrid and electric cars is needed if more people are to able to acquire these vehicles. Mr. Babwah says he has presented documentation showing that 60% of vehicles in Japan are this age and importing them would not constitute a case of “dumping.”
