Do More For Agriculture

The Sangre Grande Chamber of Commerce (SGCOC) says there must be better accessibility to agricultural incentives through the Agricultural Incentive Programme (AIP) by ensuring that there is an ease of doing business. In a media release, President of the SGCOC Sanjiv Boodhu says they welcome and encourage the establishment of the Single Point Land Management Authority. The SGCOC says they believe much better agricultural use of underutilized state lands can be made by private sector farmers. And says the establishment of the Single Point Land Management Agency is a step in the right direction in increasing sustainable economic activity and employment and decreasing the food import bill. According to a report in the Sunday Express, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley is expected to take a Note to Cabinet to establish the Single Point Land Management Authority. The report also states that former Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Clarence Rambharat will take up a position in the entity, which will address problems relating to the use of State lands, State land management and the elimination of corruption associated with state land development.
