Tobago Breadfruit Initiative

The Tobago Breadfruit Initiative is intended to bring an improved food chain to citizens. The Not-For-Profit Tobago Reforestation and Watershed Rehabilitation Programme has stepped in to grow trees for food security, including breadfruit. Chair of the organisation, Barry Lovelace, says with the pandemic, which broke down food chains and did much to raise costs, his company is moving to plant trees for increased food production. Mr. Lovelace says breadfruits offer a substantial solution to the problem caused by the Ukraine/Russia war which has caused worldwide wheat shortages.
