Attorney at Law Martin George says the death of former prisoner Akili Charles is lamentable.
Charles died days after the Privy Council upheld an historic judgment in his favour. His lawsuit against the State challenged the Act that denied bail for people accused of murder. He won that case at the Appeal Court last week.
According to police reports, at around 10 pm on Saturday, Charles was at his Covigne Road, Diego Martin, home when he was fatally shot.
Mr. George is calling on the authorities to make sure Trinidad and Tobago is a safe place to live.
