Fatal Accident At Guanapo Landfill

Police are investigating the death of a female salvager at the Guanapo Landfill in East Trinidad earlier today. The incident is said to have happened at approximately 10:50am. The Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL) says preliminary reports indicate that the woman succumbed to injuries she sustained when she came into contact with the bucket of an excavator. SWMCOL is once again urging users of the nation’s landfills to exercise precaution while on the premises and always adhere to health and safety guidelines.  The company says the landfill is closed to facilitate the investigation.
