A house fire at Prescott Lane Tunapuna on Sunday morning has claimed the life of an elderly woman.
The victim, 89 year old Zobida Mohammed, lived alone at her ground floor apartment. TTT News understands that at around 8:50 am, tenants in the building heard a loud explosion then saw smoke and flames.
While battling the flames, Fire Officers found Mohammed's body in her apartment.
Fire Officers are yet to determine the cause of the blaze.
