Tobago Day Celebrations

On Sunday, Tobago celebrated the 42nd birthday of the Tobago House of Assembly. December 4th is dubbed Tobago Day to coincide with the birth of the new incarnation of the THA which was established in 1980. In his message, Chief Secretary Farley Augustine shared Tobagonians have had a strong influence on the development of the THA. Chief Secretary Augustine noted while the island celebrates Tobago Day, to achieve becoming the greatest little island on the planet, some introspection is necessary. He urged Tobagonians to maintain optimism. The Tobago Day celebrations saw a Calypso Competition, Tobago Day debate involving the island's students and several other activities. Annually, a Tobago Day Award Ceremony is held. However, this year’s event has been postponed to a date to be confirmed.
